Northumberland Park (technically “Northumberland Park Tyne & Wear” since there is already a Northumberland Park station in London) opened yesterday, with a brief opening ceremony today. I couldn’t be at either myself, having been in Aberdeen, but SENRUG committee members Andrew Carmichael and Dave Shaw were there, and I have updated our Northumberland Line Campaign Chronology to reflect the opening of this, the penultimate station in the scheme as currently signed off.
Later on Monday, back from Aberdeen and after my French class, I had a brief catch-up with Alex Hornby, Commercial Director for Northern, mainly to press our case for bringing Cramlington & Morpeth into the Metro Fare Zones scheme (this equalising the fares with Northumberland Line stations), and for the Morpeth to Bedlington extension.
