Ticket Office Closures Consultation – Response Issued

Finally submitted SENRUG’s response to the Ticket Office closures which you can see here along with our Press Release here. Also spent most of the day copying it to people such as our MPs, County Town and Parish Councils for the 3 stations. We are also encouraging SENRUG members and other supporters to respond to the consultations personally (doesn’t need to be as comprehensive or as long as ours). For Berwick (station managed by LNER) email TicketOffice.LNER@transportfocus.org.uk by 26th July 2023 and for Morpeth and Alnmouth (stations managed by Northern) email ticketoffice.northern@transportfocus.org.uk by 28th July 2023. We are also encouraging SENRUG members to respond to the consultations personally as well as to sign the 2 petitions https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/636542 and change.org.

  1. What’s more, in recent times ticket offices have been closed due to strike action or a general lack of staff. If the ticket office is closed, then no tickets will have been bought there that day, thus creating an artificially lower sales percentage than would have been the case if the ticket office had been open. The statistics being used to justify these closures are, at best, disingenuous.
