LNER are now moving to leave compulsory seat reservations in place indefinitely, even after the end of COVID social distancing travel restrictions. We always feared this would be the case. It’s a stupid policy, as those who want the assurance of a guaranteed seat can have that in any case by reserving a seat (free of charge) under the current optional seat reservation system.
