Our first public meeting on Zoom, after a gap of almost a year, and our speaker Cllr Richard Wearmouth from Northumberland County Council gave us an update both on the Northumberland Line and on the proposed local service to Berwick. We had 50 attendees – more than we might expect from an in-person meeting with some joining us from Berwick and other parts of the UK, no doubt interested to hear the progress on the Ashington re-opening. We had a good range of questions which Richard answered honestly and openly. I’m also pleased to note a number of new people joined SENRUG in the days immediately before and after the meeting. Thanks to Cllr Wearmouth for giving up his time to talk to us, and thank you to SENRUG members and supporters for making the meeting a success, plus of course welcome to our new members.
