Successful Public Meeting and AGM

Tonight was our public meeting and AGM – once again on Zoom – plans to meet in person at Morpeth Town Hall were quashed when the date for lifting the remaining COVID social distancing procedures was delated. A very enjoyable and stimulating talk from Dr Dan Nesbitt on “Transport, Technology & Trouble”, followed by our AGM. Our committee has been re-elected for another year, and I am also most grateful to have been re=elected to continue as Chair. Earlier in the day, I met Adrian Marshall from East Coast Trains to discuss their launch at Morpeth in October this year, though the excitement rather dulled by what is looking like it could be the permanent loss of sister company TPE’s hourly services through Morpeth to Edinburgh (northbound) and Leeds, Manchester & Liverpool (south and westbound). We are continuing to fight the proposed timetable changes for the East Coast Main Line from May 2022
