Bedlington station opened on 29th March 2026, this being the final station of the scheme that was signed off by the former Secretary of State in March 2023, and concludes a 3-year construction phase. The Northumberland Line is now fully operational and carrying significantly in excess of forecast numbers. Attention is now turning to additions and extensions to the basic scheme including the Ashington – Woodhorn – Newbiggin extension – full details on our Campaigns page) and the need to secure more rolling stock so we have 4-coach trains for every train, every day.
