Newsham station opened later on 17th March 2025. Alternate weekday trains also call at Manors. Bedlington, Bebside, and the Metro interchange station at Northumberland Park are all still under construction and will be opened at later stages. The line opens 19 years after the SENRUG campaign first began in March 2005. For the full timeline from the launch of the campaign in March 2005 to the present day see here. Additionally. we recommend Riku Fryderyk’s impressive 10 minute video of the opening, which you can view on her youtube channel here (you might need to skip through some adverts before the video starts).

With the Northumberland Line now open, partially at least, SENRUG has fully updated it’s Campaigns page, to reflect our current priorities. See details of our main 15 campaigns here.
