Today, SENRUG Committee Member Dave Shaw and I had a useful meeting with Jamie Driscoll, the North of Tyne Mayor. We were actually representing Railfuture (of which Dave and I also both serve as North East Branch Committee Members) so our discussion covered the whole of North of Tyne, not just SENRUG’s area. Our presentation covered the Railfuture strategy for new rail services and new stations, as well as much better integration with metro and bus, and was very warmly received.
