We started by complimenting on LNER on the fact that last December&#8217;s highly complex timetable change &#8211; even though there are aspects to it we don&#8217;t like &#8211; was implemented smoothly and as far as we were aware &#8211; without hitch. Also for the tweak in May that re-established the connection from Berwick, Alnmouth and Morpeth to the morning &#8220;Flying Scotsman&#8221; service at Newcastle. Then we moved on to have an honest discussion about how to improve services at Berwick, Alnmouth and Morpeth. Our belief is that each station should have an hourly service to London and to Edinburgh, and we looked possible ways of doing this within the current constraints.
