Thanks to Paul Henry at Northern Rail for the ticket. This time I invited Railfuture&#8217;s Policy Director Ian Brown to join me, and managed to find time to show him the site of the Bedlington Ironworks, birthplace of the railways (because it was here that &#8220;malleable rail&#8221; was first patented), the night before. I was also interviewed by <em><strong>The Guardian<\/strong><\/em> just before the tour.
