Thank you to all the SENRUG members and supporters for standing with us and giving us the encouragement to keep going. What a tremendous success this is. Attention now turns to extensions and improvements both to the Northumberland Line and for other rail services in the area &#8211; head over to our <a style=\"color: #993300;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.senrug.co.uk\/our-campaigns\">Campaigns<\/a> page for details.<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Northumberland Line &#8211; Better Bus Connections:<\/strong> <\/span><span style=\"color: #993300;\">New bus 3 starts from 23rd March 2026, offering 3 morning journeys from Blyth Bus station via Cowpen to Blyth Bebside station, and 3 evening return journeys. The timetable can be downloaded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northumberlandline.uk\/post\/new-bus-service-to-blyth-bebside\">here<\/a>. In addition, from 22nd March, following a request from SENRUG, times of Bus 19 will change to better connect with Northumberland Line trains at Northumberland Park station &#8211; times can be downloaded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nexus.org.uk\/consultation\/item\/consultation-proposed-changes-service-19-and-introduction-new-service-333\">here<\/a>. A request from SENRUG to also extend the 19 from Cramlington Manor Walks to Cramlington station was sadly not possible, though we understand the request has been left on file in case it becomes possible in future<\/span><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><b>Lumo Launches to Glasgow: <\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Some Lumo trains now extend beyond Edinburgh to Haymarket, Falkirk High and Glasgow Queen Street. On Mondays to Fridays, this is the 15:21 and 17:22 from Morpeth (15:08 and 17:08 from Newcastle). On Sundays it&#8217;s 19:21 from Morpeth (19:07) from Newcastle. There&#8217;s only 1 return journey per day at present: On Mondays &#8211; Fridays departs Glasgow Queen Street at 18:18 and 09:22 on Sundays. See the full Lumo timetable<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lumo.co.uk\/plan-your-journey\/our-timetable\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><b><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Minor LNER Timetable Tweak (May 2026):<\/span> <\/b><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Following a request from SENRUG, LNER have advised they will be re-establishing the connection from the first morning southbound train from Berwick, Alnmouth and Morpeth on to the Flying Scotsman service to London (now also calls at York). It has not been possible to buy through tickets since December as the connection time at Newcastle had been cut from 8 minutes to 7 &#8211; and the ticket booking software requires a minimum of 8 minutes to offer a through ticket. We are grateful to LNER for their positive response to SENRUG on this point.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Great Northern Grice:<\/strong> <\/span><span style=\"color: #993300;\">To celebrate their becoming Newsham Station adopters, Blyth Rotary Club are raising funds for Rotary International\u2019s \u00a0\u201cEnd Polio Now &#8211; Purple for Polio\u201d campaign. On <strong>Friday 3<sup>rd<\/sup> July<\/strong> they intend to see how far they can go on Northern Railways in a day. They hope to cover over 400 miles, make 86 station stops and pass through 59 towns. They will begin at Newsham at 6.15am and visit Middlesbrough, Saltburn, Whitby, Bishop Auckland, Thornaby, then along the Tyne Valley departing Newcastle 16.53 to Carlisle departing 18.34 to Newcastle, Morpeth and back to Ashington arriving back at 23.00pm.
