Northumberland Line Now Open: Passenger rail service between Newcastle and Ashington commenced on 15th December 2024 with Seaton Delaval as an intermediate stop. Alternate weekday trains also call at Manors. Bedlington, Bebside, Newsham and the Metro interchange station at Northumberland Park are all still under construction and will be opened at later stages. The line opens 19 years after the SENRUG campaign first began in March 2005. For the full timeline from the launch of the campaign in March 2005 to the present day see here. Newsham Station To Open 17th March 2025: A County Council press release has stated Newsham will open on Monday 17th March 2025. This follows the opening of the first stage (Ashington and Seaton Delaval stations) on 15th December 2024. See County Council Press Release here.
